Ironman Philippines 70.3 Results 2011

The field of pros is small, but the top spot in the Ironman Philippines 70.3 Results 2011 for both the men and women pros was hotly contested by some of the best.

Like many Ironman events these days, Ironman Philippines 70.3 is sold out and actually has a waiting list of over 100 people waiting for a spot in the race.

Even though it is only in it's third season. Although it is a very small field of pros it should prove to be a very competitive race between some of the very best.

There are actually 5 Ironman 70.3 races taking place on August 14, 2011 and there are pros spread all over the globe as many of them are trying to earn some last minute points in order to make it to the World Championships that are fast approaching.

So who is going to win today?

Last year's winner Peter Jacobs is here to defend his title and can expect a stiff challenge from the likes of Cameron Brown and Justin Granger.

My pick will be Cameron Brown to win as he certainly has the credentials and also because he lives in the Philippines and will be used to the environment.

For the women, my pick is going to be Bree Wee to win today, but of course Belinda Granger could very easily take the win as well.

If Belinda is allowed to get away on the bike she may never be caught in a 70.3 race, so Bree will have to try and stay close.

THE RACE

It didn't take Peter Jacobs long to assert himself. He already had a sizable two-minute lead after one lap of the two-loop swim course and maintained that lead even more by the time he left the swim/bike transition at the end of the swim.

Even from the beginning it became obvious that Peter Jacobs had his sights set on having back-to-back victories in Ironman Philippines 70.3.

Cameron Brown was 2 minutes behind Jacobs as he headed out on the bike course.

Amanda Stevens had a great swim and was second out of the water over-all.

Peter Jacobs stretched his lead out by over four minutes over Jesse Jacobs by the end of the bike leg.

All the other pro men were far back and at this point it was just a matter of how much Peter Jacobs was going to win by.

Belinda Granger made up some time on Amanda Stevens on the bike course and at the headed out onto the run course it turning into a duel between the two as the others were far back.
