Paul Ambrose and Magali Tisseyre were two of the favorites expected to come out on top of Ironman Rhode Island 70.3 results 2011 but David Khan had other ideas.
Ironman Rhode Island 2011 will be the fourth time this Ironman 70.3 race has taken place in the smallest state in the Union.
The host city Providence provides a great setting for the race as well as a great destination for those who want to stay and enjoy a holiday far from the hustle bustle of a big city.
THE COURSE
The Providence Rhode Island course is quite unique and far different than many 70.3 courses around the world.
It has similarities to the Ironman Calgary 70.3 in that it has two transition areas and the bike is point-to-point as opposed to the standard two-loop or out-and-back courses that many 70.3 races feature.
The 1.2 mile one-loop swim takes place in Olney Pond. As a rule the water temperature is over the 70 degree Fahrenheit mark and that should mean an enjoyable swim.
As they leave the swim/bike transition area they will head out on the new bike course that travels through quiet farm country and small communities called Scituate, Chepachet, Clayville, and Smithfield.
The point-to-point bike is realatively flat and there should be some very good bike times in this years race.
The two-loop run course winds its way through the East Side of Providence. It will take the cyclists past Brown University campus and downtown Providence?s business district. What are they pursuing
PRO WOMEN FAVORITES
It looks very much like it will be a two-woman race with Magali Tisseyre most likley the pre-race favorite. Magali recently won the Iroman Boise 70.3 race and should be right back at the top of the Rhode Island 70.3 results 2011 as she is in great form.
However there will most likely be a serious challenge from American star Heather Jackson as she comes off a strong second place finish at the Ironman Oceanside 70.3.
Heather came very close to holding off Mirinda Carfrae who eventually won the Oceanside race. There is a chance however that Heather may not be at the race start. Many times pros will enter races not quite sure if they will make it or not.

Viktor Zyemtsev is entered in this years race and should rank high in the Ironman Rhode Island 70.3 results. Viktor is an eight-time Ironman champion, but does not entered too many races so there is no way of knowing what his form will be like.
His biggest challenge will most likely come from Paul Ambrose.
However both of these pros will have to stay close to David Kahn as he seems to be in excellent form going into the race.

Very early on in the race it seemed that the top positions in the Ironman Rhode Island 70.3 results 2011 would be fought out between David Kahn who had a great swim time of 24:12 and Paul Ambrose who was right behind David as they headed out onto the run course.
It is not that much of a surprise that Viktor zyemtsev has fallen off the pace as he does not race much these days and is most likely not in top form.

Paul Ambrose made quite a late charge with a great run time, but fell just short of David Kahn who is the winner of Ironman Rhode Island 70.3 2011.

Magali Tisseyre is an easy winner in a time of 04:27:08 and finishes ahead of Annie Gervais who had a time of 04:38:38 to take second place.
