Ironman Steelhead 70.3 Results 2011

Terrible swim conditions turned the race into a Duathlon but the Ironman Steelhead 70.3 results 2011 show that it was a highly competitive race just the same.

Even without a swim officially in the race due to the horrendous weather conditions it is not that hard to tell just how competitive the Steelhead 70.3 was for the pro men.

Of the top ten finishers, all were in touch in the bike. As a matter of fact it makes wonder if they were riding as a pack and the drafting rule was tossed out the window for the race.

Nothing much changed in the run and again the leaders must have been running in a pack as you can see by the run times.

At the finish, the top six were within 2 minutes of each other and the top three were less than 1 minute apart with Tom Lowe hanging on for the win of the strength of the bit of an edge he had by scoring the best bike time and hanging on in the run.

It will be interesting to see how this race is scored as far as the World Championship points are concerned, but as they were all competing under the same circumstances, I suppose the points will be allotted as normal.

Melissa Rollison is having a dream season and swim or no swim I don't think the was going to be caught today.

I think that is evident by her simply over-powering 01:16:33 run that was almost 6 minutes faster than Heather Jackson's.

Heather Jackson is one of the top female cyclists on the circuit, but Melissa was able to easily make up the two minutes she was behind on the bike.

It's worth mentioning a few of the other races where Melissa stood on top of the podium.

She had a great race in the VINEMAN 70.3 and also won the IRONMAN MUNCIE 70.3.

She won both races with very fast race times and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

I sure hope she gives herself a much needed rest.
